‘Green Leaf’

Broekhof introduces sustainable packaging

Broekhof presents an ornamental pot made from elephant grass. Products made from elephant grass have a low carbon print and a high technical performance. The ‘Green Leaf’ packages are 100 percent compostable which means they can be deposited in the biodegradable refuse bin. Green Leaf products meet the need of consumers for products that are sustainable and have less impact on the environment.

Paperwise is another raw material that is compostable. It is made from agricultural waste and reduces the environmental impact by 47 percent compared to FSC paper made from wood pulp and by 29 percent compared to recycled paper. Broekhof can offer various products made from Paperwise like pot covers, luxurious gift bags, bouquet vases and tubing.

The third raw material that Broekhof chose for the Green Leaf packaging line is PLA. PLA is a biopolymer and one of the most sustainable bioplastics. Unlike traditional plastics, PLA is made from renewable raw materials and not from fossil fuels. The agri-waste and biomass used is a bi-product of sugar cane and corn, therefore not at the expense of food. Broekhof can offer products made from PLA like flower- and plant sleeves, rolls of film, tubing, pot covers and labels.

You can visit Broekhof at IPM Essen in Hall 1.0, Booth 1A18.
