NL: Rise in number of solar panels per installation

"We noticed that there is a growing demand for solar panels, especially for larger installations of 200 to 1000+ panels. Growers are becoming increasingly aware that they can’t afford to stay behind and need to be more forward thinking," according to the Voshol Warmte en Elektrotechniek team. "It is becoming more important to be a climate neutral grower, and alternative energy sources are essential for achieving this. Greenhouse horticulture needs to become more sustainable," says Jos Duijvesteijn.

Valk Rozen in Pijnacker is doing exactly this. Here Voshol Warmte en Elektrotechniek installed 350 solar panels on the roof of the office building. In order to boost the efficiency of the panels, optimizers were installed as well. "These ensure that all panels work independently of each other. If one panel gets covered by shade, this will not affect the rest, and the other panels can still achieve their maximum yield."

Roof direction and angle of inclination
The direction that the roof faces along with its inclination have the greatest effect on how effective solar panels will be. "A south-facing roof with an angle between 30 and 40 degrees is the best, but a roof to the southwest or southeast with angles between 20 and 40 degrees also yields a lot", says Jos. Voshol is able to provide growers with advice on solar energy. "We calculate the return that can be expected and whether or not it makes sense for a grower to invest in solar panels for their company."
