Kenya: Tax on cut flowers to be harmonised for better gains

Nakuru County government plans to harmonize tax imposed on flower farmers, a move aimed to end double taxation that has adversely affected them.

Since devolution came into force, farmers have cited double taxation from both arms of government as a key factor driving down production.

Another challenge to industry players is poor infrastructure in the region, worsened by heavy rains. Bad roads have increased the farmers' production costs with them constantly having to repair their vehicles.
