NL: National Tulip Day worth € 1.1 million

This year, Tulip Promotion Netherlands reached an unprecedented number of publications: 261 in total. The publications represent a PR value of € 1.1 million. At the start of the event in 2012, this was € 59,530. About National Tulip Day only, more than 183 articles have been published and 21 recordings on radio and TV were registered.

Traditionally, the tulip season starts during National Tulip Day. This year the event reached an unprecedented spin-off on two fronts; PR value and high participation from the sales channels. The PR value of the event has increased 13-fold compared with the first edition of National Tulip Day in 2012. With additional PR activities, such as the baptism of Tulip O'G3NE and the distribution of a press kit, a total of 261 articles were written about the tulip on paper and in online media in the Netherlands and abroad. Also on social media, Tulip Day was a national and international talked about subject. Arjan Smit, chairman of Tulip Promotion Netherlands: "This year the NOS News announced in the news program at 18.00 p.m. that the Tulip season started on the Dam in Amsterdam. This is a peak for the tulip trade."

In addition, all sales channels joined the start of the Tulip season actively. Through the florist organization VBW in cooperation with Royal Flora Holland, dispatch organizations Fleurop and Topbloemen, and also garden center chains and supermarkets joined in this year with the start of the Tulip season and were organizing activities or gave Tulips a special role in that week.

Board of Tulip Promotion Netherlands re-elected
"As the board we keep active. We are very pleased with this result and raise the bar a little higher for next year," the re-elected president Arjan Smit says. "It's nice that the board will continue in the current formation, so that we can actively use the knowledge of all members. We remain ambitious, also in the coming three years. In addition, we work very closely with a team of specialists; marketing office Concept Factory and PR agency Alpha Communications. We'll keep them sharp, because for us it is the result that counts."
