Protect your process computer against ransomware

Cybercrime is an increasing issue for anyone who uses the internet. Newspapers report daily about hackers and ransomware. All iSii process computers that are connected to the Internet are sensitive to this threat. Therefore, Hoogendoorn provides you with some precautionary measures.

Make sure you have a good back-up
It’s crucial to have a good back-up of the system with the most recent data. With a good and recent back-up, a hacked system can be fixed in a relatively short time, preventing greater damage. Save the back-ups separately from the system and ensure you have multiple copies on several hard disks. Some viruses slumber for a while before they become active. By having multiple data copies you prevent your only copy from being infected.

Additional measures
In addition to the back-up, there are other measures that can be taken:

Activate your Windows firewall, or install an alternative firewall that is capable of detecting and disarming ransomware.
Is your system still running on Windows Vista? Update to Service Pack 2.
Use Google Chrome or Firefox instead of Windows Internet Explorer.
Do not allow any administrator rights on the iSii. It might not prevent all cases of hacking or ransomware being installed, but it is an extra security measure that limits your risks.
