Kenya: IFTEX larger than last year
The event continues to attract more and more buyers every year. Amongst others also Chinese and US buyers have found their way to this trading platform and it implies a huge gain for the export of cut flowers from Kenya and other African grown flowers. The number of pre-registered visitors has increased with almost 25% in comparison to 2016 and therefore a clear indicator of higher attendance numbers of foreign flower buyers.
There is a good buzz going around this year’s expo and exhibitors are optimistic on the results of the upcoming edition of IFTEX. The Permanent Secretary Dr. Chris Kiptoo, vice minister of Industrialization and International Trade, has confirmed to be willing to open the fair this year. His presence is of special importance as he has been closely involved in the development of the Kenyan flower industry in past years and is for this reason adding an extra value to the fair through his presence next week.
