Turkey: Suleymanpasa municipality sets up greenhouse to guide growers in the region

Suleymanpasa municipality in Tekirdag, located on northwest Turkey, has started to grow its own plants in the greenhouse it had set up.

The staff who will be working in the greenhouse has completed their training and the set-up process which took around 3 months, is finally finished.

Suleymanpasa Mayor Ekrem Eskinat: “The project is carried out with the goal of assisting and guiding the growers in the region. We will grow our own flowers and plants in the municipality greenhouse. We will also train the growers in our greenhouse. The flowers we grow will be used in our parks and green areas. This way we will cut down our costs and reduce our dependency for our plants. As we train our growers, they will start producing plants under our supervision and purchase guarantee. This will help both the growers and municipality.

We hope to set up an example for our growers and help to transform this region into a region of growers. The purchasing guarantee is a significant factor for our growers because as they know that they have already a buyer for the products they will grow, they can more easily make greenhouse investments. If our project is successful, we may become like Yalova, the city known for plant production in Turkey”
