IPM 2017: From greenhouse to cash register
The road to the market
Novelties that have been introduced still have to further prove themselves in the market. How strong are they? Is it an improvement within the assortment? How winter resistant are the species? Can they be planted in every type of soil? Many questions that justify research. Van Vliet New Plants ensures that as many questions as possible will be answered. The new species are planted and monitored in various areas around the world. This happens, amongst others, under the watchful eye of the Kon. Vereniging voor Boskoopse Culturen (KVBC), and also with specialized agents all over the world. After this monitored course, which is different for each plant, the plant is reevaluated and, when the result is positive, is ready for the market.
From greenhouse...
The sorting of the novelties and further production starts in the greenhouse and is mostly done by plant breeders and tree growers. Plants that have proven themselves are then licensed and placed under the care of producers for further multiplication. Van Vliet New Plants carefully selects these producers. Van Vliet New Plants is a partner for plant breeders or tree growers. Together they market the product and they are also able to regulate the market as specialists.
...to cash register
In June of 2016, Peter Kroes joined the Van Vliet New Plants team. With his background in marketing and ample experience, Peter is a great asset in this area. Van Vliet New Plants guides the introduction of species protected by breeding laws from greenhouse to cash register.
