Recently a new modern 1.9 ha glasshouse was built by a Dutch/Japanese consortium in Moriyama city, Shiga prefecture, Japan. The official opening ceremony was held by Mr. Kunieda, the owner of the Rose Farm glasshouse.

More than 150 high officials and guests attended the opening. Among those present were Mr. Shigeru Ishiba, a member of the House of Representatives and the former Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Mr. Taizo Mikazuki, Governor of Shiga Prefecture and Mr. Kazuhiro Miyamoto, Mayor of Moriyama City. The Dutch Agricultural Counsellor of the Netherlands Embassy in Tokyo, Mr. Evert Jan Krajenbrink, congratulated in his speech the company with the modern greenhouse that can be compared with the most modern ones in the world, and will hopefully set the new rose production standard in Japan.

The new glasshouse was built on 1.9 hectares of land, which is one of the largest rose-producing greenhouses in Japan. Kubo Tuinbouwprojecten, together with its local partner Daisen, constructed the glasshouse. The indoor climate conditions are fully controlled by a Priva computer system, and the greenhouse adopted the Ultra Clima system, a sophisticated cooling system, to tackle the summer climate in Japan which tends to be very hot and humid. Dümmen Orange provides the farm with high-quality starting materials of various rose varieties. With the latest technologies from the Netherlands, the rose grower aims to improve the yield per square metre and the quality of roses produced at the farm. Mr Robert Keijzer, Export Manager of Kubo Tuinbouwprojecten B.V. and Mr. Harry Kloppenburg, Managing Director of Dümmen Orange participated too in the official opening.
