The ongoing rose harvest in Adana makes growers happy. The rose greenhouse established by Ogun Sever Okur in the Pekmezli District of Yuregir district creates employment in the village and produces good quality roses. In the greenhouse where unemployed women and young people are employed, the roses are harvested with great effort and are sent to the flower auction, where they are sold for 0.25 USD each.
The rose greenhouse project, which was implemented with the philanthropy of Ogun Sever Okur, operates in a 1-hectare area in Pekmezli District.
Roses sold at auction first meet consumers in the Adana market. It is then sent to various provinces of Turkey and finds buyers. Ogun Sever Okur said, 'We are pleased with the yield and prices. Our harvest will continue until the end of January. The roses we harvest here go to many provinces of Turkey. Our roses will reach lovers on February 14, Valentine's Day."
While explaining the purpose of establishing the rose greenhouse, the grower says, 'These are the roses of love. The purpose of this greenhouse is for children. The prices are reasonable, and with the revenue we generate, we will provide more assistance to the children."
Grower Ersen Okur stated that they harvested 7-8,000 roses per acre and said, 'Our yield is good, we are satisfied. It is sold for good prices. It sells for 0.25 USD each. We will take a break in February and start a new harvest in March. Rose is suitable for the Adana climate. If you can take care of it, you will make a very good profit. The installation cost of the greenhouse is a little high, but as long as the greenhouses are large enough, the greenhouse pays for itself in 1-2 years."
