Dutch flowers and plants in Urban Oasis at Grüne Woche
The world's largest trade fair for agriculture, horticulture and food with 450,000 visitors. In the Holland Pavilion, in hall 18, the visitor will gain a different impression of the Netherlands from the innovative Ecodome, an excellent platform for the promotion of flowers and plants. It is a new concept that gives the starring role to the flowers and plants for the first time.
New style Dutch garden
In the context of the Dutch presidency of the European Union, the Ministry of Economic Affairs is presenting a powerful new message during the Grüne Woche. In the Holland Pavilion being constructed in the Berliner Messe, there is an Urban Oasis. This 'trade fair stand' forms the decor for the opening of the trade fair at which State Secretary Martijn van Dam will receive the German Minister of Agriculture.
Flowers and plants
Along with windmills, cheese, meat and pancakes, spotlights are turned on the innovative side of the top sectors, Dutch Design, sustainability and the best of the agricultural and horticultural sector: lovely flowers, plants, vegetables and fruit. This makes it a great place for the horticultural sector to draw attention to flowers and plants.
Collaboration between the trade and growers
The Association of Wholesalers in Flower Nursery Products (Vereniging van Groothandelaren in Bloemkwekerijproducten, VGB) and Royal FloraHolland are supporting the realisation of the Ecodome. The parties involved are: BureauSierteelt.nl, project leader; GreenBalanZ nursery, producer of organic Phalaenopsis orchids; promotional group Air So Pure with air-purifying plants; and promotional group TPN which uses its tulips to add colour to the garden and the life-size windmill.
In addition, plants from the Kalanchoë group decorate a picture frame 9 meters wide and 4 meters high that visitors pass through to enter the garden. The gerbera promotional group Coloured by Gerbera will surprise visitors with a selfie wall that is 9 meters wide and 3 meters high, decorated with 15,000 gerberas. The visitors can immortalise themselves against this imposing backdrop, the WonderWall of Gerberas.
Urban oasis
The Urban Oasis is a design by NL Greenlabel. An image spread over 250 m2 of the Dutch exhibit presents the Netherlands as a sustainable urban delta with many fine qualities. One of its characteristics is the capacity to create space for greenery, innovations, biodiversity, and sustainability despite the limited size of the country.
