On May 28, more attention will be payed to the horticulture sector in Canada. The Royal Couple will receive a greenhouse tour at CosMic Plants after which owners Neil and Mike will host a high tea. During this high tea, local entrepreneurs from Dutch heritage have the possibility to share their horticulture experiences in Canada with the Royal Couple and with the participants in the trade mission.
Mike van Steekelenburg, co-owner of CosMic Plants is very proud but also humbled that his company is chosen for this special visit. "We are of course extremely honoured, but we would like to express that there are so many beautiful greenhouse companies in Southern Ontario - the Niagara Area - with Dutch roots."
CosMic Plants
CosMic Plants produces Phalaenopsis Orchids in various sizes and shapes, all year round in their 80,000 sqft sized greenhouse facility. Their customers are mainly floral wholesalers and distributors who, in their turn, supply florists, garden centers and chain stores. But they also cater to floral designers, event planners and interior-scapers. "We take pride in preparing the orders exactly to the specific wishes of our customers. Because of the wholesale nature of our business, we are not set up for sales to the public at this point. Almost every flower store and garden center in our area caries our Orchids."
