Walk into a Starbucks and wave a smartphone to pay for a latte. Wander through a department or grocery store, and watch coupons appear in text messages like magic. In fact, more than 70 percent of Americans use a smartphone daily, and increasingly use them to buy anything, anywhere, at any time. The shift is one that retail florists can’t afford to ignore, says retail trends expert Jim Dion of Dionco Inc.
“Smartphones are re-wiring consumers’ brains, and florists need to put a mobile business strategy in place now,” Dion said. “As a retail florist, if you’re not in an application or contact list on your customer’s phone, you’re going to become an afterthought the next time they want to send flowers.” Florists can take advantage of Dion’s insight and learn how to become “searchable, findable, relevant and helpful to mobile customers” during SAF Retail Growth Solutions, June 7-8 in Hartford, Conn.
Dion will share examples of how other retailers are already meeting the needs of on-the-go shoppers during his keynote presentation: “The On-Demand Economy: Mobile Customers Want it Now — Are You Ready?” He’ll also work with attendees to find the right mobile paths for their shops during the interactive, audience “Talkback” session that follows.
Four more sessions packed with ideas to boost sales, cut costs and increase profits complete the educational package at this year’s 36-hour mini conference for florists. The schedule also includes time to visit the Supplier Showcase and network with fellow attendees.
