Germany: Volmary makes horticultural history for 90 years

The Volmary family are pleased to announce they have just achieved 90 years as an independent Horticultural Family Business. The company was founded on July 1, 1925 by Franz Volmary and has developed into a worldwide horticultural company with more than 500 employees and a global presence. The 3rd generation owner, Hubertus Volmary, manages the company with many close and loyal colleagues of many years. The next generation of the family, Josephine and Hans Volmary are currently in education and hope to be involved with the business in due course, continuing the family traditions and maintaining those values for future generations. Where other large horticultural businesses have become small parts of major conglomerates, the Volmary traditions remain and the business has preserved it’s independent family values for the owners, staff and customers benefit.

During recent celebrations in Germany involving staff and associates from across the globe, Hubertus Volmary emphasized in his pictorial journey through 90 years of the company history, what his celebration motto 'We are family' means to him. He explained that we can all work together with joy and creativity, each one of us is as important as the other and we must remember to have some fun at work. For me, it also means that we do not only take responsibility for ourselves and our company but also our industry and the environment we live in. We recently achieved the CO2 carbon neutrality of our company's activities by promoting sustainable forestry in Brazil. Social commitments such as the promotion of a project supporting street children in Kenya are for us a matter of personal and business importance'.
