For almost 45 years, Blumen Heinen has been producing cut flowers including ranunculus, specialising in sun flowers, dahlias, violets and chysanthemums.
Since 2007, the family business has been run by 3rd generation Hans-Peter Heinen and his wife, Chris Heinen. Blumen Heinen has developed into a specialist in summer flowers. The ranunculus originally comes from mid-Asia, but is planted in the Netherlands and Germany as a tuber in the spring in cold ground. When the sun starts to shine in February, the plants begin to grow and from the beginning of March, ranunculus are ready for sale.
Preferred Supplier
The collaboration between FleuraMetz and Blumen Heinen has been agreed between the parties. Since April, Blumen Heinen has assumed the position of first German Preferred Supplier. Together, they are assessing the range and in consultation, all varieties are being evaluated.
Blumen Heinen provides all types, colours and sizes of ranunculus. New types are being specially kept for FleuraMetz. "This season, we have come across a funny little flower, of which there are only a few here and there. Blumen Heinen is keeping and collecting these flowers now for us." Also, during other seasons there is a lot of collaboration, such as with Allerheiligen, with whom santinis and fluffy chrysanthemums are central. "We are both doing what we are good at."
