Drone delivers magazine
Director Theo de Groot's speech covered the necessity of innovation within MPS services. The further use of robots, automation and digitalisation are trends affecting certification. "This could be an auditor with Google Glass, who walks through a greenhouse and notes his observations verbally and records them digitally. But it could also involve the use of drones, for example, releasing dosed bees into the greenhouse."
De Groot referred to this as 'disruption', i.e 'something that is new and still small' possibly eliminating 'something that is current, large-scale and cumbersome' in a very short period. While the old world, to the astonishment of the initiators, stands paralysed, watching developments and 'letting it happen'.
To conclude the programme, the first copy of the jubilee magazine was flown in by drone.
By and for growers
MPS was set up in 1995 by growers from study clubs and the auction and has now become a global partner across the entire fresh-chain. This is illustrated in the magazine with an explanation of all of the links in the fresh-chain.
The magazine also offers a space for MPS growers, who are offered ample opportunity to have their say, and MPS looks at market trends and talks to the consumer about why he/she chooses sustainable products.
