Second-hand lighting fixtures from the Netherlands used worldwide

It is getting more and more important to cultivate the whole year round, but sometimes there are just not enough financial resources to make this happen. It is an interesting alternative to invest in second-hand lighting fixtures. Cultivating the whole year is, besides meeting the demand, also profitable, because the products can get on the market when the sales prices are good.

DS Hortitrade is a trading company in horticulture machines and materials and for the replacement of all kinds of materials and machines in glass horticulture. The global interest in second-hand supplementary fixtures is growing. The lighting fixture gives better quality and higher production during winter time in vegetables and floriculture. Growers have already started their preparations for the upcoming winter season, this is clearly noticeable on the market. 

Second-hand fixtures as supplementary lighting are accessible to a larger audience because they are a smaller investment. “The Netherlands is a big market for us, but we also deliver more and more second-hand fixtures to other countries in Europe, Asia, North – America and the Middle East”, says Dave Debets from DS Hortitrade. “The challenge is to determine the most efficient exposure strategy based on local opportunities. It is great to see Dutch horticulture such as supplementary fixtures, after a thorough rework, getting a long life somewhere else."

All the purchased materials will be completely overhauled after entry. “we stand for quality also for second-hand fixtures.” The fixtures are fully renovated and tested. New capacitor, new bulb and a new anodized reflector are part of the standard treatment. Every fixture will be sold with a warranty, that is how we guarantee a high quality product. It is important during the selection of a type of installation to pay attention to the amount of added grow light and the quality of the light. Therefore a good light plan is essential and effective to illuminate. For that reason we deliver the whole package more often. Our specialists provide a light plan and the fixtures will be delivered and installed completely, including all required suspension profiles, cables and switchboards,” says Dave Debets.

Dutch and international growers realize that buying new is not always necessary. DS Hortitrade delivered and installed different complete projects home and abroad. “A few examples from the projects that we have delivered and installed last year are 1.000 pieces electronic 600 watt fixtures in Canada, 6.000 pieces conventional 600 watt fixtures in Russia and 2.000 pieces conventional fixtures in Armenia. But also in the Netherlands, a while ago we delivered 1.500 pieces modern watt fixtures to a grower in Lier,” says Debets.
