Veiling Rhein-Maas

Germany: Import plants developments

The spring import plants season has almost ended. Until week 27, we saw an increase in turnover for this segment in comparison to the same period last year. The turnover from Italy was slightly lower, while the turnover from Spain was higher. In total, five new growers began auctioning their import plants at Veiling Rhein-Maas. Higher quantities of Nerium, Mandeville, Citrus and Argyranthemum were auctioned, but the quantities of herbs and Lavandula dropped a little due to flooding in Albenga in December 2014.

The importance of including pictures with EABs is on the rise, especially for remote buyers, for whom this type of information is essential. Most suppliers enclose their product pictures with the EDN announcement form and the Import Department uses these images in the auction letter. Those suppliers who did not send pictures this year would be wise to do so next year.

Product photos and company logo
For suppliers to the auction, the Import Department can produce product photos, which will be displayed in the auction room during the auction, as well as within the remote buying system.

At Veiling Rhein-Maas, we are also able to display your company logo together with your product photos on the LED display while your products are being auctioned. In this way, you can increase your brand recognition as your products are sold.
