9 to 11 September in Padua, Italy:

Flormart 2015: Innovations and Business Occasions for all Components of Floriculture and Gardening Sector

The 66th edition of the number 1 Italian b2b trade show in floriculture and gardening will be held from 9 to 11 September in Padua with a program full of novelties. The itinerant winter edition called “Flormart in tour” will make its debut in January 2016. Among the new features: professional training events, including the international forum ECOtechGREEN and the conference on "Floriculture and meteorological factors"; awards such as “La città per il verde”, Oroflor and Flormagazine, nòva_green prize for innovative products, technologies and sales methods, and Flormart Garden Show, the international competition of landscape architecture; “Master Flower - Autumn Winter Trends”, consisting of floral demonstrations inspired by new trends in flower decorations; and an exhibition of important vegetal designers.

Flormart 2015 offers an innovative response to the needs of all players in the floriculture and gardening sector: from producers of ornamental plants and flowers, to garden centers, florists, private gardeners and those who manage public green spaces. The trade show covers as many aspects as there are "shades of green", to borrow the insightful title of the roundtable held in the area of the Italian Ministry of Agriculture in Expo Milano 2015, just before the conference presenting Flormart 2015, with the intervention by Daniele Villa, CEO of PadovaFiere (the organizing company of Flormart whose majority is French owned), and leading figures of the Italian agriculture and horticulture sector among which Dino Scanavino, president of the Italian Confederation of Farmers (Cia), and Francesco Mati, president of the nursery district of Pistoia (Tuscany).

These highly complete credentials present the 66th edition of Flormart, the historic international trade show of floriculture and gardening of Padua, the first in Italy for quality and quantity (despite some negative signs in the recent years due to the economic crisis), as confirmed by the numbers of 2014: 350 exhibitors and 18,000 visiting professionals. This year's event, scheduled from 9 to 11 September 2015, is in fact characterized by a profound reconsideration of the contents in the name of innovation, eco-technologies and aesthetic quality, both for floriculture exhibitors and participants from the green design and management field, in the belief that these are the three key factors in the competitiveness of the sector.
This reconsideration also touched the organizational formula, with the creation, alongside the main edition of September, of the itinerant winter edition called "Flormart in tour", which will make its debut in January 2016 in Tuscany at Mefit, the tuscan market for flowers and plants situated in the town of Pescia, in the province of Pistoia, on the border with Lucca, at the heart of two major horticultural districts: floriculture of Pescia and Viareggio and ornamental nursery of Pistoia. In alternate years the winter edition will travel to other Italian floricultural centers and to promising areas abroad.

Following is a summary of some of the events of the program, which offers business occasions and opportunities to stay up to date for all players in the sector. Starting from the international business front, where those seeking opportunities in relationship with foreign countries can count on 50 major foreign buyers whose presence are already confirmed. Operators from the following countries will be at Flormart: Azerbaijan, UAE, France, Germany, Great Britain, Indonesia, Morocco, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia and Turkey. And thanks to the collaboration with Paysalia, a trade fair in Lyon organized by GL Events, the majority shareholder of PadovaFiere, there will be a joint promotion with the international fair of Tunis, “Kram”. In general 2,000 b2b contacts are expected between buyers and participants.

Conferences and Technical Meetings
Among the techno-scientific meetings and professional updating events that are offered this year, it is worth noting the international forum of green technology ECOtechGREEN scheduled on 9 and 10 September, an initiative of Paysage (Promotion and development for landscaping), supported by the magazine Topscape, pursuing the development of methodologies and technologies inclusive of urban green areas to promote biodiversity in these contexts and reconstruct a more balanced relationship between man and nature. And this year it will be called ExpoECOtechGREEN 2015 in tribute to the Expo in Milan and will host reports on innovative projects in the use of green technology from both European and developing countries such as Qatar. As visitors at least 400 professionals are expected.

Also of note on September 10 is an international conference on the theme "Floriculture and Meteorological Factors" by Andrea Vitali of diADE adv: a subject that has always attracted the attention of all sectors of agriculture, but today, in the horticultural field, has become particularly relevant as a result of climate changes that are taking place in Europe. Because these, on the one hand, are increasing the risk of destruction of crops, but on the other, are also changing the geography of the productive vocations.

Awards and Competitions
On September 11 there will be a focus on urban green organized by Il Verde Editoriale who in addition to the prize “La città per il verde 2015” (The city for green), will hold a meeting entitled “Il verde urbano produttivo” (The productive urban green), in which this topic will be analyzed in the different perspectives of urban gardens, agricultural parks and other forms of urban farming, including a report on “project of the redevelopment of green for the city of Milan” and another on “gardens in the cities of Germany”.

Among prizes and competitions, the famous Oroflor and Flormagazine attributed by the press to floricultural products that stand out for quality. Then there are the three new awards nòva_green, organized by diADE adv of Pescia, through which space and visibility will be attributed to the most innovative plants and flowers, technological accessories and sales formulas among the exhibitors of Flormart 2015, selected by a jury of experts who will try to identify the innovations most likely to have a great impact in the industry and a long-term success. The finalists of nòva_green will be showcased in a special stand at PadovaFiere from 9 to 11 September and the winners will be allowed to use the logo of the competition in recognition of excellence. They will receive a kit containing various informative and advertising material of quality with the logo of the prize and instructions for use in their communication channels, from traditional print media to social media. For example, letterhead, business cards, stickers for products as well as digital files of the logo in multiple formats and various types of banners for the web.
This year, to highlight the role of green in landscape, biodiversity, sustainability, health and improvement of living conditions in urban areas, a new international competition in landscape architecture called Flormart Garden Show was introduced. The selection for the competition has concluded in great success both for the number of participants and the quality of the temporary garden projects that were handed in, some of which will be realized in September for Flormart 2015. The winners have already been selected and will be officially announced to the press in September.

Demonstrations and Exhibitions
One of the most important items of news for the floriculture industry at Flormart 2015 is the debut, following a similar event last fall in Pescia at Mefit called Christmas Flower Trends, of the event "Master Flower - Autumn Winter Trends", by diADE adv, led by art director Anneclaire Budin and marketing expert Andrea Vitali. On this occasion representatives of major florist schools will be called upon to perform in the real-time creation of floral arrangements inspired by trends and/or themes defined by diADE on the basis of aesthetic and commercial criteria, with the aim of giving plants and flowers professionals visiting Flormart tips to help increase sales. An event in which the logic of fashion are applied to the marketing of plants and flowers to give new impetus to the entire horticultural industry by focusing on aesthetics and style as added value.
Aesthetic quality and creative freedom will have even more weight in the exhibitions of two great international artists of vegetal design, a branch of contemporary art which is increasingly practiced and stimulant, which are scheduled at Flormart 2015 in the exhibition halls. The names of the artists will be announced closer to the trade show.
