Sales FloraHolland dropped by 6,8% in August

The weather conditions in August weren't favorable for the sales of flowers and plants. With a drop of 6,8% compared to last year, the total turnover of FloraHolland is 279,8 million euros. The increase in turnover of 2015 is discarded.

Warm weather resulted in a larger supply from the Netherlands. But the average price of cut flowers decreased by 4 times to 19 cents. There were less flower imports from Africa because of the growing conditions and lower prices. A total decrease of 12,2% of 147,7 million euros.

There wasn't a big difference with the indoor plants, 1,1% less volume and 0,3% less turnover. The garden plants scored a slightly lower yield: 1,7% increase in turnover at a 3,1% higher volume. Sales for this product were at 17,9 million euro.
