Milestone Fresh Logistics started a joint venture with Oceanica, the biggest freight forwarder of Costa Rica. The company is named Milestone Costa Rica and will function as an independent company. "With this new agency we hope to provide our existing clients with better service and added value," tells Omar Moghrani.
"We are extremely aware of the fact that when we want to strengthen our position in perishable produce from Costa Rica, the work should be in our own hands. In logistics it is all about anticipating incidents, because nothing is more unpredictable than logistics. With our own agency in Costa Rica we are close to the source in terms of information and our own people will go that extra mile, because that is the way we operate in the Netherlands," continues Omar.
"Milestone deliberately started this month with its Costa Rican agency to get everything up and running properly before the high season of the melons and mangoes starts. The sea freight forwarding services for pineapple, plants and greens from Costa Rica continues the whole year round. We expect to achieve economies of scale to the Dutch importers. Our main task is to guarantee the existing fresh loads in a good and safe way and maybe we can focus on fresh loads from Northern America, but that is in the far future," concluded Omar.
