Three cut flower varieties
Danziger bred three Pagoda cut flower varieties, namely the ocean, a blue variety, the lagoon, a deep blue variety and the blush, a light pink variety. Currently, the flower is commercially grown in the Arava area in Israel and in the center of Israel. "The just ended their trials over there," says Shafransky
Trials all over the world
In order to offer more growers the opportunity to grow this flower, trials are being conducted all over the the world. "Just like other flowers, we see that the Pagoda cut flower reacts differently in different environments. The trials in Israel already revealed that the flower likes the heat and that it can be grown in tunnels or under shading nets. The stems are 50-70 cm in height and the flowers open simultaneously."

Equal opportunities for growers
Even though Danziger wants to offer every grower the opportunity to grow this flower, they control the amount of growers. "This is done for all our varieties. In this way we can control the competition and enable our growers to earn as much as possible," she says. Besides that, Danziger also support their growers during the cultivation process. "Also this is done for all our varieties. We advise and support them when they come across challenges, we are proud with our long term relations with our growers as we try to be there for them all along the way, from the first planting to the sale of the final product."
First flowers at the auction
The first commercially grown Pagoda cut flowers from the grower in the Arava area in Israel have been harvested and have just opened the new year at the auction in the Netherlands. "There were great reactions from around the world to this product that brings vivid color to the gray winter. We now wait to see the auction results," concludes Shafransky.
