28 January 2016: AIPH International Grower of the Year Awards

Who will succeed Schoneveld as 'Grower of the Year'?

This year, the Grower of the AIPH International Grower of the Year Awards 2016 will take place on Thursday, 28 January 2016, during the IPM Essen in Germany. The Gala dinner is the finale of the 2016 Awards, where a global audience of hundreds of international guests will be welcomed. There are eight finalists, three categories, where Bronze, Silver and Gold will be awarded to each category, and one final and most prestigious award – the coveted Gold Rose. Also FloralDaily will be present to report the entire evening.

Programme
The master of the ceremonies is to be Chris Beytes, Editor of GrowerTalks and Green Profit magazine. Chris will present throughout the Awards which commence at 6pm with a drinks reception followed by a four course dinner at the Messe Essen, hall Europa. The highlight of the evening is of course the Awards ceremony topped off with an evening of live entertainment and international networking.

New categories
For the first time in the history of the International Grower of the Year Awards, three categories will cover different types of grower businesses. These have been introduced so the Awards can better represent the wide range of growers operating around the world and therefore give you a better opportunity to win an award.

The three new categories are:
  • Finished Plants & Trees – Growers of plants and trees that are ready for final sale.
  • Young Plants – Growers of cuttings, plugs, liners, seedlings, etc, which are sold for growing on.
  • Cut Flowers – Growers of flowers and foliage which are cut for indoor decorative use.
Bronze, Silver and Gold will be awarded, where applicable, to each category. Each of the category winners will be judged for the final and most prestigious award – the coveted Gold Rose, awarding them the global status of AIPH International Grower of the Year.

Schoneveld Breeding, the Netherlands, is the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) International Grower of the Year (IGOTY) Gold Rose winner for 2014.

Gold Rose Winner 2014
Last year, the Gold Rose went to Schoneveld Breeding. The jury was impressed by the business and their marketing theme, ‘connecting the chain’ which seeks to add value throughout the supply chain. “The whole team at Schoneveld were very proud to win the Gold Rose in 2014. Not only did winning this prize give our company international recognition but it has also provided us with a valuable marketing tool. This international validation of all we are striving to achieve and the recognition by our industry peers means so much,” said Peter van de Pol of Schoneveld Breeding.

Sponsor and Founding Partner
The Awards Gala Dinner is held in partnership with Headline Sponsor, FloraHolland and Founding Partner, FloraCulture International (FCI).
