Germany: Large greenhouse fire causes 75,000 euros of damage

A large fire in a greenhouse in Möckmühler, Germany, which broke out last Thursday, January 7, caused damages of an estimated 75,000 euros, reports the German stimme.de. The cause of the fire was probably a defect in one of the fan heaters of the 800 m2 sized greenhouse.

A work desk, cupboards and more equipment were destroyed. The shade screens enabled the fire to spread rapidly. Due to the intense heat, the ceiling fell in the neighboring glasshouse and also set on fire.

The dripping plastic in the first glasshouse prevented the fire from spreading further. In the second greenhouse, several empty plastic benches caught fire and were completely destroyed. The glass of the greenhouse was broken almost everywhere.
