Dutch trader writes autobiography

Robert Zurel and the downfall of his empire

Throughout his entire career Robert Zurel worked in the ornamental sector, giving people much to think about. He recently published his autobiography, which he wrote after he stopped working (he founded Bouquetnet, which was taken over in 2014 by Celieplant), describing more than two centuries of family history, including a narrative report on how the Jewish family survived WO2. This is followed by the turbulent history of the flower empire, which he ran together with his father.

Robert was the owner of one of the largest flower and plant exporting companies worldwide, named S.Zurel & Co. Twenty years ago he was fired with a lot of excitement by the supervisory board, after many employees had already left the company, if not fled. According to Zurel everything was based on a giant conspiracy against his person, led by his father. He says that his father gave him a bad name," this was stated in an article in the Volkskrant twenty years ago.

20 years on Robert F. Zurel tells his colourful story about the "The rise and fall of the flower and plant empire" (the name of the novel).

Robert Zurel introduces his own book on facebook.

"The rise and fall of the flower and plant empire", 500 p., can be ordered via the authors (email) or the webshop.
