Anthura, breeder of anthurium and orchids, will be at the Fruit Logistica in Berlin next month. A flower breeder between the fruit and vegetables?
Marketing manager Matthijs Bodegom: "We are not going as a breeder but with some watering concepts that can extend the durability of plants both on the shelf and at home. We are constantly on the lookout for new, innovative ways to optimize the quality and life span of flowers and plants at the end of the chain and at retailers. We’ve been working on these new watering systems for a while, with positive results. We want to share these ideas with those in charge of freshness. These watering systems offer many possibilities, especially for herb plants."
The WaterWick system, for example, includes pots that are provided with water through a wick and a separate water tank and racks for presentation of the pots on a full shelf. Useful in stores but also in the catering industry and even living rooms.
"We want to provide our customers with the best and finest quality plants and take our service one step further. We want to set them up and support them with market positioning. Together with customers we look for constructive ways to not only improve a product, but also make it more attractive to the consumer. This includes durability extension and thus failure rate reduction in retail, for example using these watering systems."
Anthura will present the concepts with Florensis in Hall 1.2, stand A-01.
