Good hygiene is vital to the vase life of gerbera
“At Chrysal, we have done a lot of testing and measurements,” says Ingrid Beentjes from Chrysal. “Our aim is to reduce the bacteria in the water container. This can be done by using CVBN-tablets, which are dissolved in the water with the help of an automatic dispensing machine.” All the gerberas from Reijm are treated with Chrysal CVBN. These tablets guarantee optimal flower and stem quality and are more effective against bacteria than any other (liquid) chlorine products. Chrysal CVBN keeps the gerberas stems straight and green. Moreover, treated gerberas remain beautiful much longer.
Care
Hygiene is very important when caring for the gerbera. As gerberas are sensitive to contamination, it is extra important to use a clean vase, preferably made of glass. Gerberas don’t need a lot of water: half a liter of water with a 0.5 liter Chrysal cut flower food sachet gives the best result for a single bouquet of gerberas. This increases the vase life with 60% compared to water alone. Keep flowers away from draft, heat and direct sunlight and enjoy these colorful flowers!
