AntiReflect is the result of years of research to get the benefits of anti-reflection obtainable for existing greenhouses. Normally a part of the sunlight reflects on the greenhouse roof and does not reach the crop. AntiReflect reduces this reflection to a significant extent. More light enters the greenhouse; resulting in more production and better quality.
The LightLab at Wageningen UR Greenhouse Horticulture has thoroughly defined the transmission properties of AntiReflect, both direct light as well as hemispheric incident (= diffuse). In both cases, the light gain in total appears to be about 4%, according to the measurements.
PAR light
In addition, the LightLab measured the transmission per angle of incidence for PAR light. It appears that at an angle of 50-70 degrees the light gain is maximum and can rise to 5%. This light angle is particularly common in Northwest Europe and Canada in wintertime.
AntiReflect does not change the colour ratio of the light spectrum of the incoming light. This was also demonstrated by the LightLab. The growers do not need to take steering light effects into account due to an altered spectrum.
AntiReflect needs to be applied mechanically (sprayboom) with great care in order to ensure an even layer, like other ReduSystems coatings that require similar care. The coating can remain on the greenhouse throughout the year to give a higher light transmission in all seasons.
Mardenkro will introduce AntiReflect at the international horticultural exhibition GreenTech, to be held on 14, 15 and 16 June in Amsterdam RAI.
