Rock wool added to RHP quality mark

Recently the plant safety and the quality of rock wool was guaranteed under the RHP quality mark for substrates. The product certificate applies to rock wool blocks and rock wool slabs from the producers Grodan and Cultilene. Buying RHP certified rock wool was not possible before, because rock wool was secured under the Kiwa product certificate. Because of the integration of the KIWA BRL-K10001 requirement in the RHP Product Certification Scheme, the quality of rock wool substrates is now guaranteed by the RHP chain quality mark.

Rock wool is especially applied in the culture of fruit and vegetables and some ornamental plant cultures, like rose and gerbera. By the addition of rock wool substrates to the RHP chain quality mark, all raw materials, both organic and mineral, are now applicable under the RHP product certificate.

In the RHP Product Certification Scheme a special provision for back up sampling has been included. The grower must back up a sample himself and store this for 6 months. The back up sample can be useful when there are doubts concerning the quality of the product.

RHP certified substrates guarantee an optimal start of the culture. It offers security that the substrate complies with the right quality demands concerning among others water- and air content, pH and EC. It also guarantees that the substrate is pure and clean and that there are no risks for a safe application in the culture. The RHP quality mark secures the quality of growing media in the chain, from raw material production until processing and delivery at the company of the user.
