There are two flower shows in North Korea; the Kimilsungia Flower Exhibition and the Kimjungila Flower Exhibition. These shows take place on February 16 and April 15.
At the exhibition two flowers are put in the spotlight; the Kimilsungia and the Kimjungila. The former is a orchid variety, purple colored, and originates from Indonesia. This flower was presented by an Indonesian Botanist on April 15th 1975 (Juche 64 in North Korea) on occasion of President Kim Il Sung's Birthday. The Kimjongilia flower, a red begonia, was presented by a Japanese botanist in on February 16 1988 (Juche 77) on the occasion of General Kim Jong Il's Birthday.
