France: Salon du Végétal to be held in June in Nantes

After the changes made in 2016, the Salon du Végétal fair continues its search for excellence in order to take its place in the world of flowers and plants events. They’ll hold the trade show on 20, 21 and 22 June 2017, and they’ll move to Nantes, to the “Parc de la Beaujoire”, a larger exhibition area, inside and outside.

The Salon du Végétal turned a corner in 2016 by carrying out several changes. They acted by reorganising the exhibition by centres, using the "Gardens in Towns" theme, having an ambassador in the form of TV’s Stéphane Marie, inviting and accepting only professionals from the flowers and plants universe, creating a demonstration garden and developing conferences by centre.

"The Salon du Végétal continues to evolve to best fit the needs of exhibitors and visitors," says Frédéric Bourgeolet, president of Bureau Horticole Régional (BHR), the trade show organiser.

Moving to June
Over the years, holding the trade show in February has become more and more challenging: School holiday season and an already well advanced trading season.
"Following more and more requests to move the date, we asked visitors through a questionnaire, asked some exhibitors, buyers and stakeholders of the trade show," says Philippe Wegmann, director of BHR. "The 3rd week in June is a very good period for all the categories of buyers. For distribution and production, it is after the full season of spring, and this period is fertile for ideas and references and to prepare the next season. Florists are more available, as the major events have passed by. For landscapers and town councils, demonstrations outside are a key point."

Increasing the offer in the centres
More and more buyers (distribution, landscapers, and local authorities) have a purchasing envelope which doesn’t just include plants, but they are in charge of buying products from other sectors, such as manufactured goods, decorative objects…. "To encourage purchasers to come, we are improving the offers found in each of the centres in plants and in manufactured goods," explains Frédéric Bourgeolet. "Our ambition is to make the Salon du Végétal a great event dedicated to the plant and flowers universe: distribution (gardens and decoration), green spaces, floristry, production and Innovation," adds Philippe Wegmann.

Moving from Angers to Nantes
"To meet this increase in demand, the Salon du Végétal needs to move to a bigger and better exhibition centre," explains Serge Tsvétoukhine, general manager of the Salon du Végétal. "Nantes and its 'Parc de la Beaujoire' exhibition centre will let us develop our centres, both inside and out, improving the facilities and the welcome we give to visitors and exhibitors alike, from home and abroad. We’ll be able to organise other events at the same time and in the same place as the fair: conferences, symposiums, franchise meetings and other commercial events," adds Serge Tsvétoukhine.
