Photos: Martijn van Dam visits floriculture companies in Kenya and Tanzania

Earlier this month, the Dutch State Secretary Martijn van Dam of Economic Affairs visited Kenya and Tanzania. In Kenya, as well as meeting several ministers and visiting a game reserve, a number of visits to businesses were on the program. Among which were several floriculture companies: Oserian, Florensis and Olij Breeding. The proud companies posted their photos on Facebook:

At Oserian the State Secretary could admire among other things, the 'world’s largest geothermally heated greenhouse.'

At Florensis they mainly spoke about challenges in the field of crop protection and the social projects in Kenya involving the company. There was also a tour of the greenhouse, a visit to a project where Florensis cultures fish in water from residual flows and more.

After visiting Kenya, the state secretary traveled through to Tanzania. There the focus was primarily on potato and the ways in which the Dutch tuber effectively takes root. Here too, visits were made to well known companies: Oasis Young Plant, Rijk Zwaan and Fides.
