The role of calcium in plant culture

Premier Tech Horticulture specialist Troy Buechel talks about the role of calcium (function, deficiency, and toxicity) in plant culture. You could also read his article here.

Calcium (Ca) is one of the three secondary nutrients, along with magnesium (Mg) and sulfur (S), that is required by plants for healthy growth. Although it is not a primary nutrient such as nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K), do not confuse the term “secondary” as meaning of less importance compared to a primary nutrient. The secondary nutrients are essential for healthy plant growth, but are needed in lesser amounts than the primary nutrients.
