On Wednesday, August 24 ‘Takii’s Lisianthus Treasures' took place. At A.C. van Baalen in ’s-Gravenzande, the Netherlands, the breeder presented the new Lisianthus varieties to growers and flower exporters. The focus of this meeting was on the new assortment and the picture for the future of these products.
A sneak peek at the breeding ground of Lisianthus
The future range of Takii at A.C. van Baalen consists of Lisianthus varieties that will be available in three years, two years and next year. Also the current varieties, such as Croma Yellow and Arena Mont Blanc, were showcased in colourful flowerbeds. The location at the seasonal grower Van Baalen made it possible to showcase the Lisianthus in different stages of maturity. Twenty people shared their opinions of the different Lisianthus varieties; information Takii will develop more fully in the next novelties. Hendri Veurink, product development manager flowers at Takii Europe, is more than satisfied with the responses. According to breeders and exporters, one of the highlights was the ‘Arena Purple’: a Lisianthus with dark buds. Also the new variety ‘Corelli Delft Blue’: a fresh blue-white version was amongst the favourites.
If growers and flower exporters have missed ‘Takii’s Lisianthus Treasures’ and still want to stimulate all of their senses, they may, with the agreement of Veurink, make an appointment.
