For many years now, Klusmann Gartenbau has been organizing an open day for the general public. And it seems to be a successful activity; last year they welcomed 1,600 people and this year Klusmann hopes and expects to welcome even more. "The weather forecast looks good, not too hot". Next to showing their range of orchid varieties, they will also show how the orchids are being cultivated and the techniques that are being used in the greenhouse. "In this way we can please the women as well as the men", he laughs.
The main aim of the open day is to promote their varieties and brands. Every year they put their new varieties in the spotlight and this year, it is the Cocktail orchid. According to Klusmann, this new variety, which is created by putting two orchid varieties in one pot, has a lot of potential. "We just did some test sales and we are very satisfied with the results. We are looking forward to hearing the feedback of the customers and learning about their demands," he says.
