US (ID): West Side School District uses donations to build greenhouse

The West Side School District will begin construction of a greenhouse thanks to a $30,800 donation from a slew of local businesses.

The greenhouse will serve as a classroom setting for two new programs at West Side High School: plant growth and development, and plant and soil science. Students will have hands-on experience with both classes that will be taught by agriculture teachers. The West Side High School FFA students will work with their advisers to put the greenhouse together. The greenhouse and the two new classes are slated to open in January 2017. Students will also grow and sell flowers and plant starts. The sales will go back toward the greenhouse, and students will use the funds to purchase seeds and soil.
