Danish Martin Dupont Andersen, Gartneriet Fohlmann:

"Our succulent sales skyrocket after Christmas"

Christmas is an opportunity to increase your sales, or not? For Danish succulent sales consultant Martin Dupont Andersen of Gartneriet Fohlmann, not Christmas but the period right after this holiday increases their sales. "Then, everyone wants something different than red and white flowers and the demand for succulents rises sharply. We will start shipping large volumes from December 26th onwards", says Andersen.

Christmas has never been an important holiday for Gartneriet Fohlmann. "We sold some Echeveria which are being used to make Christmas arrangements, but that is actually all", says Andersen. According to him, the period right after Christmas is way more important. "Then, our sales skyrocket."

According to Andersen, there is no particular succulent variety that stands out in demand after Christmas. "Our market, which are countries all over Europe, just wants something green and wants to get rid of the red and white flowered Christmas plants. All our 200 varieties, that we grow in our 13.500 m2 greenhouse in Langeskov are in high demand at that time", he says.

This period right after Christmas is one of the most important times of the year for Gartneriet Fohlmann. However, during the summer season, they will often reach their sales peak. Then, we sell even more succulents."
