NL: First edition Let it Grow's Greenhouse Festival attracts nearly 4,000 visitors

The first edition of Let it Grow's Greenhouse Festival last Sunday attracted more than 3,750 visitors. Never before has a festival about urban green living been attended so well in the Netherlands. "I look back to this day with great satisfaction. Our goal was to let visitors experience how flowers and plants contribute to a healthier and happier life in the city. And we succeeded," Silke Tijkotte, founder of Innovation platform ‘Let it Grow’ said.

Instagram art and plants that give light
For one day the Amsterdam Transformatorhuis changed into a green and colorful oasis, where all kind of things could be experienced. There were among others a plant museum, green start-ups, a pop-up exhibition, Instagram art of De Hortus Botanicus, plants that generate energy and artist Elspeth Diederix presented her plan for a new flower pick garden. Also you could participate in several workshops, in lectures you could learn more about the city of the future, there were shop-in-shops of plant shop Wildernis and bookshop Athenaeum and you could contact the doctors of science desk Greeny Leaks with all your pressing questions about the effect of flowers and plants.

Let it Grow seeks new start-ups
"We did not expect to attract that many visitors. The popularity of this festival shows that there is a large market for conscious urbanites interested in green. Partly because of this success and the huge demand from the market, Let it Grow has decided to organize its Incubation Program in 2017 for the second time. In the first edition we coached seven start-ups during five months in their growth and development. We are going to look for new start-ups that are working with flowers and plants in innovative ways, with the aim to serve consumers in their requirements," according to Tijkotte.

On May 10 the details will be announced about the next Incubation Program and the applicable criteria. Entrepreneurs who positively influence city life with flowers and/or plants are invited to register.
