Dutch Lily Days official opening at Van den Bos Flowerbulbs
The rest of the official opening is a metaphor for the growing confidence in the lily sector. There will also be a competition during the opening for the loveliest bridal decoration created by international florists, and judged by the international press attending. Since the origin of the Dutch Lily Days six years ago, the event has helped draw more attention to lilies, in the Netherlands as well as internationally. The four-day ‘display’ of lily cultivation is something appreciated by an increasing number of foreign visitors. This is aided by the link to the Flower Trials, which are held a week later.
Hundreds of new varieties
From Tuesday to Friday, June 6 to 9, thirteen prominent lily breeders and dealers through the Netherlands open their doors. Each year they present around a hundred new varieties, proof that the lily sector is booming worldwide. The new varieties can be admired at all participating companies.
Naming of new roselily
Innovation in the lily sector is not just restricted to the level of new varieties. At Van den Bos a new roselily will be introduced on June 6. A few years ago, the roselily became an entirely new segment, the double-flowering lilies. The flower is also pollen-free, which consumers really appreciate. The rose-like form of the flower makes the roselily an attractive newcomer in the assortment.
The official opening of the Dutch Lily Days is planned for Tuesday, June 6, at 12:00 at Van den Bos Flowerbulbs, Dijkweg 115 in Honselersdijk. The event is restricted to the specialist sector. It is expected to be well attended.
All participating companies in the Dutch Lily Days are open from 08:00 to 18:00 on June 6 - 9. Visitors are welcome at Van den Bos Flowerbulbs, Bot Flowerbulbs, De Jong Lelies, Lily Company, Mak Breeding, Onings Holland Flowerbulbs, C. Steenvoorden BV, GAV Lilies, Gebr.
