NL: 'Fuego' baptized at Penning Freesia

At Penning Freesia, a new variety has been baptized: the 'Fuego'. During ‘Kom in de Kas’ Westland on April 1 and 2, 2017, the public was given the opportunity to propose a name for the new red freesia. From the 1,185 entries, a jury selected the winning name: 'Fuego'.

This name was submitted separately by Irene Persoon and Vanessa van Ingen Schenau. They were invited to come and baptize the freesia. Also attending were Johan van Scheepen of the K.A.V.B., Thea van der Knaap, Frits Zwinkels and Ted van Luyk of ‘Kom in de Kas’ and employees of Penning Freesia.

After a brief speech by Marko Penning, the christening took place and the christening certificate was signed. Irene and Vanessa both got a bouquet of 'Fuego' and a matching engraved vase. The event was closed with snacks and drinks.
