The Hydrangea Breeders Association (HBA) has acquired an interest in the breeding programme of another member in its sector: Kühne Gbr. This was announced on 15 June during the annual Hydrangea Night that the HBA holds for its customers and business associates. This means that the HBA will strengthen its collaboration in the breeding of hydrangeas and that the specific Kühne genetics can continue to be developed as part of this new joint venture.

The HBA, a company in the Dutch town of De Kwakel, leads the way in the breeding and marketing of hydrangeas for both pot and cut-flower production and engages in intensive collaboration with various partners operating in the garden and patio segment.
Examples of the HBA’s innovative breeding results for the houseplant and garden segment include the recently introduced Curly® Sparkle, Green Lips and Double Pink and tropical cut-flower hydrangeas such as Force, Ice Cube and Pop-Up. The last three are suitable for cultivation in equatorial regions. Recent Kühne introductions include Diva fiore®, Kleiner Winterberg and Candy Heart.
