US: GWA names award winners

GWA: The Association for Garden Communicators has announced the recipients of its 2017 Honors and 2017 Media Awards Silver Medals.

2017 GWA Honors
GWA Honors are the association’s highest designations, recognizing excellence and service in green communications industry. This year’s honors included Hall of Fame, Fellow, Wilfred J. Jung Distinguished Service Medal, Emergent Communicator Award, and new this year the Cynthia Westcott Scientific Writing Award, which recognizes individuals with PhDs who communicate horticultural and gardening finds in easy to understand terms, as well as the Green Medal Sustainability Award, which recognizes the work of an individual or organization in addressing wise and respectful use of the land.

GWA Honors recipients will be presented their awards on Monday, August 7 at the 2017 GWA Awards & Honors Dinner, hosted by Allan Armitage at the GWA Annual Conference & Expo in Buffalo, NY.

2017 GWA Media Awards Silver Medal Winners
GWA recognizes this year’s Silver Medal winners of the GWA Media Awards, a special designation recognizing the top talent in competition categories. These winners are now entered for judging in the Gold Medal Round, where awards will be given for the best of each award class.

This year’s competition resulted in 76 silver medals across 60 different categories including Writing, Photography, Digital Media, Broadcast Media, Publishing, and Trade.
