"NL: "In fact, we're skipping some links"

Traditional auctioning would be a thing of the past, if it were up to Marco Stolze, owner of online flower and plant auction ClockOnline. With the independent digital platform, in his own words, a lot of time and money is saved by delivering fresh products directly from the grower.

 

Marco says that the benefits of auctioning directly from the grower, are enormous: "Normally the fresh products are first transported to the auction and one day later it is auctioned. On weekends, the products for the Monday auction are already harvested on Friday. So, it is already four days old. Before it is transported abroad, it is even older. At ClockOnline, the products that are auctioned on Monday are also harvested on Monday."

 

Additionally, auctioning from the grower through ClockOnline results in fresher flowers and profits are also gained logistically. "If you usually buy live at the auction in Naaldwijk, the products are packaged three times: from the grower to the auction, from the auction to the buyer and from the buyer to the customer. In fact, we are skipping some links," said Marco.

Another possibility of auctioning via ClockOnline is the transport from the grower to one of the auction locations in the Netherlands or Veiling Rhein-Maas in Germany. From there, it is transported to the (end) customers. Here what is sold on Monday is also delivered on Monday or not later than Tuesday morning.
