The first Phalaenopsis came rolling from a brand new conveyor belt last week: the cherry on the cake after 14 months of hard work. During this period, VW Orchids had been busy with a conversion to a completely different cultivation. With years of experience in roses and the knowledge and expertise in the field of orchids within the grower family, owner Kees van Wijk decided to continue with phalaenopsis. Now that the company and systems are placed and are coupled with a striking strategy and new corporate identity, VW Orchids is ready to manage the phalaenopsis market. With more than 25 years of entrepreneurship in the (family) nursery, Kees van Wijk has gained years of experience with the various aspects of the cultivation of quality products. VW Orchids focuses on the best varieties within the white, large-flowered Phalaenopsis range. From here there is a selection on flowering duration, branch length and the number of flowers per plant. Because of a limited assortment, in which only large-flowered and white kinds fall, all varieties are year round available. The main varieties grown by VW Orchids are: Leeds, Ikaria, York and Pure Silk.
Introduction at Autumn Fair
During the Royal FloraHolland Autumn Fair, held on 13 and 14 September, VW Orchids introduced the new company name and the selected large-flowered phalaenopsis varieties. In addition, several exporters will be visited in the coming weeks to meet VW Orchids and the assortment. Pull Position will be guiding the introduction. VW Orchids is a modern nursery in Nieuwaal with 3.5 ha, which was set up in 2016 for the cultivation of Phalaenopsis. By focusing on white and large-flowered Phalaenopsis in pot size 12 cm, VW Orchids proves themselves to be the quality grower in this field.
