Wouters Nursery was started in Brabant, where open ground vegetables were grown. 'Grandpa' Wouter moved the greenhouse and was one of the first to start a horticulture business in the Noordoostpolder. At the end of the 70's the switch was made to cut chrysanthemums. In the 80's this was changed to pot and perk plants, combined with strawberry and chicory. Slowly, Wouters Nursery changed into a pot and perk plant company. Think violets, perk goods, bulb chrysanthemums and Christmas Stars.
According to Frido and Ad the expansion to 39.5 hectares of greenhouse went well. "From the starting phase (before the purchase took place) the guidance was already good. We visited other customers together with Prins Group in which the greenhouse projects use diffused glass. Through positive and enthusiastic stories from Prins Group and their customers, we were able to make our decision and opted for diffused glass. We haven't used this type of glass before and it makes this extension extra special. The collaboration with the greenhouse building team in the construction phase was also very good. Almost the entire team is Dutch, which meant the communication was easy. The greenhouse project was also finalised in one go without a delay, which is a huge plus."
