ICEX study:
The market of landscaping and nurseries in Morocco
The country increasingly demand professionals and products in the areas of ornamental plants in nursery and landscape professionals (Architects, agronomists and professional engineers for the maintenance of green spaces).
Increased imports of certain houseplants, plant protection products and outdoor furniture.
Professionals and Spanish products in this area have a good image in Morocco and can be competitive due to the geographical proximity and the EU's free trade agreements.
All these data picks up a study of 2017, carried out by the ICEX, which examines the size of the market in Morocco, local production, imports and exports.
They are more imports than exports in the case of outdoor plants and flowers.
And it is that live plants for landscaping and gardening are one of the sectors most boom of recent years within the Moroccan agriculture.
The 90% pesticides and plant protection products are imported, large agricultural tracts for both small green spaces.
Recent years have been designed and implemented numerous projects to the length and breadth of the country to strengthen the demand for ornamental plants and landscaping services.
Also, bilateral relations between Morocco and Spain are very good, with a rich history in common and very closely associated through the Treaty of friendship, Good-neighbourliness and cooperation. Spain also has a significant logistics advantage that allows you to deliver the product in conditions and in addition a hard time overcome by other countries.
In terms of landscape architecture, the study of ICEX reveals that it has a good image of the know-how of Spanish architects, also as landscapers.
Ultimately, We're talking about positive opportunities in the medium term for Spanish companies.
The study, July of 2017, It has been developed by Rocío García Samaniego under the supervision of the Office for economic and commercial of the Embassy of Spain in Casablanca.
