'Renée van Wegberg' edible rose baptized

The first public presentation of a new edible rose variety, bred by Pheno Geno Roses, attracted people’s attention at De Rozenhof Lottum. The rose, named after singer and actress Renée van Wegberg, was ceremonially unveiled by the actress, city and state officials and Pheno Geno CEO Peter Cox.

What sets this rose apart from others is the fact that petals of this rose are edible. Sweet and fragrant, petals of this variety have a raspberry-like taste. It is grown easily just like any other rose and can be used in various range of dishes, from salads to sweets.

Pheno Geno's whole edible rose collection is to be introduced later this year, presenting roses in many different colours and flavours.
