Hobaho by Dümmen Orange is selling the online service Machines & Materialen (Machines & Materials) on 31 August 2018. This step provides more focus on the further growth of the online activities as well as the brokerage and breeding of flower bulbs and tubers. The new owner of the digital platform is HB Veilen BV, under director Kees Hopman. The takeover has no adverse consequences for employees.
Machines & Materialen (Machines & Materials) is a healthy service but represents a relatively small percentage of the Hobaho activities. “We believe that, partly due to the recent developments in breeding, our focus lies with flower bulbs. Hobaho by Dümmen Orange innovates through technology and breeding and to market the products resulting from that. Machines & Materialen therefore no longer fits into our strategy. By selling the service to HB Veilen BV we are confident that the trade will continue to grow in a good, professional way under Kees Hopman’s leadership. The phasing out will be gradual and the cooperation between Hobaho and HB Veilen BV will remain close.” explains Foeke Gardenier, Managing Director, Hobaho.
Dry flower bulbs auction
“For the foreseeable future, Kees Hopman will also continue to be active as auctioneer for the auction for dry flower bulbs.” adds Gardenier. The dry auctions will remain part of the Hobaho by Dümmen Orange service package.
“Jos van Oosten and Marian van der Meer will continue to support me. Jointly we will combine our expertise to grow HB Veilen BV from the solid foundation laid by Hobaho by Dümmen Orange.” says Kees Hopman. The team at HB Veilen BV will operate out of BolleNoord in ’t Zand and the auction office will be located in the trade centre on the de Prof. van Slogterenweg in Lisse.
