Modiform’s EcoExpert trays are released into the auctions tray rebate scheme of Royal FloraHolland. The EcoExpert tray design, moulded from waste carton fibre, has passed the tray tests and has directly been given settlement code Fc225. From today growers can obtain their rebate.
Currently it is the six per shelf transport tray, the Normpack 200 range equivalent, that has the rebate code. Modiform are designing and manufacturing more models. Shaun Herdsman (EcoExpert, Retail & Industry Division Manager Modiform): “Due to industry, retail and consumer demand we have been working with Royal FloraHolland for a number of months for testing and we’re very proud it succeeded”.
Modiform strives to produce packaging and transport products for horticulture that are sustainable and environmentally friendly. For this reason Modiform created a brand new product range called ‘EcoExpert’. This product range is made from paper fibre instead of plastic. The paper used is 100% recycled (waste from production of cardboard boxes) and the products can easily be recycled through the standard household or retailer cardboard recycling system. Not only can it be recycled and composted, but if it finds its way into the natural environment it will degrade within a year.
Modiform’s EcoExpert range contains three pot sizes and eight different transport trays at this moment. By the end of this year Modiform are expanding the range by another four transport trays and a full set of pot sizes from 9cm to 19cm. This doesn’t include bespoke designs that are currently being created together with growers and retail partners.
