Flower volunteers on a house-building mission in Guatemala

Together with 11 volunteers, OZ Planten colleagues Nathan van der Maarl and Elfrieda Penders worked from 9 to 18 November to build a house in Guatemala, in a project organized for the fifth time by the Dutch Flower Group and Habitat.

Nathan: "It was great, a real treat to be able to participate. A week on the road with the people there, you experience and see a lot next to the building project. I would definitely do it again!"

The volunteers were allowed to work with two different families and help with the start of their own home. There was a building place A and a building place B, the group of volunteers rotated every time so that everyone could contribute their part at both building places.

The nursery of the Tak family
The volunteers also visited the nursery of the Tak family. The nursery is large and consists of sixteen nurseries and specializes in green foliage: LEDs, aspidistra and treefern. After a tour of the committee led by the CFO of the company, a check was handed over on behalf of the Dutch Flower Foundation and Green Connect to support the victims of the volcanic eruption in June 2018.
